Traveling on paper takes a closer look at the years 1990-1991 in which Belgian artist Joris Ghekiere (1955-2016) spent a year traveling through Asia with his wife Inge Henneman. During this months-long journey, no fewer than 170 autonomous works, but also countless sketches, designs, collages and sketchbooks were made, sent or brought along and carefully preserved. Recently discovered in a large chest of drawers, a large selection of these travel drawings has been compiled in a publication that appears on the occasion of the exhibition in Mu.ZEE in Ostend (2.7-27.11.2022). The images have not lost any of their pictorial power and show a wonderful travelogue by a young artist, a desert wanderer with sand in his eyes.
