We are thrilled to announce that our gallery artist, Johan Grimonprez, has been awarded a € 20.000 POMONA Grant in the category of established artists, recognizing his outstanding contributions to contemporary art.
Grimonprez, internationally acclaimed for his thought-provoking films that blur the boundaries between documentary and fiction, will use the grant to develop his upcoming project, The Multispecies Parliament.

His work has been exhibited worldwide at renowned institutions such as MoMA, the Hammer Museum, and Tate Modern. His latest film, Soundtrack to a Coup d'Etat, premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Cinematic Innovation Award, recently secured an Oscar nomination in the Best Documentary category.
The POMONA Art Fund, a new initiative by SOFAM and managed by the King Baudouin Foundation, announced its inaugural grants on February 7, 2025, selecting laureates from a pool of 33 nominated artists.
In addition to Johan’s win, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to the other two talented grant recipients, Marie Zolamian (mid-career artist) and Hussein Shikha (emerging artist)!
Each laureate was also given the opportunity to nominate an artist or organization for a POMONA Laureate Grant of €5,000. Johan Grimonprez nominated the young Ghent-based artist Hilke Walraven, whose installations explore the subtleties of everyday actions and rituals.
