We are pleased to announce that Peter Morrens is participating in the exhibition Révolte!?, on view in Sint-Amands from 15 March until 28 June 2026.

Revolts have long been understood as a social phenomenon, closely connected to the rise of the workers’ movement. It is no coincidence that the poet Émile Verhaeren wrote two poems dedicated to revolt. From the 1960s onwards, however, revolt increasingly found an artistic expression. Taking the idea of social and artistic revolt as its starting point, the exhibition brings together artists from different periods in dialogue with one another.

Alongside historical works by Eugène Laermans, James Ensor, Maximilien Luce, Paul Signac and Frank Brangwyn, the exhibition presents contemporary works by Nel Aerts, Marcel Broodthaers, Jacques Charlier, Nikolaas Demoen, Palatine Demoen, Koba De Meutter, Francis Denys, Danny Devos, Dieter Durinck, Peter Morrens, Walter Swennen, Dennis Tyfus, Anne-Mie Van Kerckhoven and Benjamin Verdonck.

A separate section presents documents from Belgian artist initiatives situated at the intersection of artistic experimentation and social engagement, forming what the curators describe as an artistic barricade from Verhaeren to the present.

Curated by Nikolaas Demoen, Rik Hemmerijckx and Johan Pas.
