In Frequencies We Cannot Name: Language, Sound, Silence
March 7 – May 10, 2026
de Brakke Grond, Amsterdam
We are delighted to announce that works of Joris Ghekiere and Léonard Pongo will be featured in the exhibition In Frequencies We Cannot Name: Language, Sound, Silence at de Brakke Grond in Amsterdam.
This year, de Brakke Grond takes a new step in its ongoing collaboration with Mu.ZEE, the museum of modern and contemporary Belgian art in Ostend. Running alongside Mu.ZEE’s renovation, this three-year collaboration explores a central question each year: which stories can a Belgian museum collection tell in a Dutch, non-museum context?
Each edition invites a different Dutch curator to bring a fresh perspective to the collection and develop a new exhibition concept informed by their own practice. For the second edition, In Frequencies We Cannot Name: Language, Sound, Silence, Rita Ouédraogo has been invited as curator. The exhibition will be on view at de Brakke Grond from March 7 to May 10, 2026.
The show brings together the work of fifteen artists, ranging from established figures like Otobong Nkanga to emerging talents such as Pei Hsuan-Wang. It is complemented by a three-part public program, in which participating artists will delve deeper into their work and engage in dialogue with the local context throughout the exhibition.
