Léonard Pongo | Kunst & Zwalm 2025 (BE)

Léonard Pongo will be part of Kunst & Zwalm 2025, a biennial art route in the Zwalm region (Belgium) taking place across three weekends: 30–31 August, 6–7 September, and 13–14 September 2025.

Organized by Boem vzw and curated this edition by Kunstenplatform PLAN B, Kunst & Zwalm brings together visual art, film screenings, debates, workshops, music, and installations around the central theme of soil. The participating artists develop projects in close dialogue with the landscape, the local community, and the stories rooted in the region.

This year’s theme looks at soil in both its visible and invisible forms: the physical ground we live on, build upon, and cultivate, as well as the symbolic “roots” we share—or sometimes don’t—as a foundation for collaboration and collective life. Moving beyond the cliché of the dynamic city versus the stagnant countryside, Kunst & Zwalm 2025 highlights the rural setting as a stage for urgent questions and contemporary artistic explorations.

Participating artists include:
Agripuncture | Atelier V.V. with Piet Bodyn & Mathieu Lauwers | back2soilbasics | Bert Villa | Constructlab | De Bolster | een-twee | Futurefarmers | Hendrik Vermeulen | Ismail Matar | Julie Van Kerckhoven | Léonard Pongo | Maïly Beyrens Xu & the third grade of Het Groene Lilare | Martha Balthazar, Barbara T’Jonck, Mats Vandroogenbroeck & Jana De Kocker | Myvillages | Pınar Öğrenci | Seasonal Neighbours | The Post Collective | Friends of the Zwalm Villages
