Kristof De Clercq is very happy to announce the gallery's fifth solo exhibition by Mario De Brabandere (b. 1963, Belgium).
For over 40 years Mario De Brabandere has been steadily building up an impressive oeuvre that consists of works on paper, paintings and sculptures. De Brabandere’s practice consists of a process of a spontaneous and continuous creation. According to the artist, the material itself fulfils half of the work. His attention goes to the particularities of the wood, paper or object he works on, but also to their previous usage or history. The material initiates an ongoing dialogue with the artist's sense of touch. De Brabandere wholly trusts the power of his own intuition. Thinking doesn’t ever get in the way.
